How You Can Help

At one point or another, we all need someone to believe in us and our potential.  But what happens if you don’t have that?  You may not be surprised to learn that the adolescent mothers who seek support at Abiona Centre:

• come from poor families and live in poor neighborhoods
• 80% report experiencing violence including rape and incest
• have no or little support from their family or partner
• lack basic education as they have not yet finished high school

Without support, the mothers will likely remain in poverty, perhaps struggle with long term mental health issues and may lose custodial rights to their children.  We may fear their life story – and that of their child – is already written, that there is nothing we can do.  Yes, the cycle will continue.

But you can help stop it. You can care.  You can believe in their potential…one mother and child at a time.

Your donation to Abiona Centre helps today and is also a long-term investment in the life of a young mother, her child and their future generations. In fact, a recent Social Return on Investment (SROI) study in our sector* found that for every dollar invested in agencies such as the Massey Centre, there is a return of $4.38 in social value created, based alone on a mother and baby’s first five years.  And, this value increases every year after that.

While Abiona Centre receives government funding, it is not enough to cover basic operational expenses.  Each year Abiona Centre must raise an additional $300,000 to maintain current service levels.

When you donate, Abiona Centre takes great care to be a good steward of your gift, and our financial details can be found in our recent Annual Report.  As a member of the Abiona Centre family, you will receive our newsletter two times a year updating you on the impact of your support.

Please feel free to read our Fundraising & Donor Privacy Policy.

Thank you for giving today.

"Abiona Centre not only gave me the ability to care for my child, but the motivation to get what I wanted for my life - to have my daughter with me and to live independently."
